Pierce College Status and Emergency Resources for Local Fires

Brahma family -- We are actively monitoring the ongoing Los Angeles area fires,  all of which are impacting surrounding L.A. area communities. Your safety is our top priority, and we are closely assessing their effects on campus, including power outages, potential wind damage, and air quality. Please review the updates and resources below for critical information.

Current Campus/Classes Status for Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2025: 

  • COLLEGE STATUS: OPEN 
  • CLASSES:  In Person

All Pierce College in person/on campus classes will take place in person unless otherwise indicated by your instructor. Students please check Canvas and/or contact your instructor for more information. All Pierce Fully Online classes will continue to take place online.

If situations change, we will notify you through our emergency communication channels.

Excused Absences Policy

If you are affected by the fires, your safety comes first. Students unable to attend classes or access resources due to fire-related disruptions will be granted excused absences. This includes:

  • Evacuation orders or relocation.
  • Transportation issues caused by road closures or fire activity.
  • Health concerns, including smoke exposure.

To Request an Excused Absence:

  1. Notify your instructor.
